Bangles
Sculptural cuffs, kadas and bangles — the most versatile piece for Indian wear. 7 pieces, ₹699–₹1,699.
Buying bangles in India: what actually matters
Three specifications determine whether a plated bangle lasts two months or two years, and only one of them is usually advertised. The first is plating thickness, measured in microns. Flash plating under 0.5 micron looks identical in photographs and wears through within weeks; premium plating of 2.5 microns or more survives daily wear for years. The second is the base metal — nickel-free brass is what makes a piece safe for sensitive skin, and it matters even under thick plating. The third is an anti-tarnish finish, the clear protective coat that resists Indian humidity.
Note that the karat figure — “18k gold-plated” — describes the purity of the gold in the plating layer, not how much of it there is. Two pieces described identically can differ tenfold in plating thickness. This is the single most common misunderstanding in the category, and it is covered in full in our guide to 18k gold-plated jewellery.
What bangles should cost
Well-made demi-fine bangles in India generally sits between ₹699 and ₹1,699. Meaningfully below that band and something has been cut, almost always plating thickness. Meaningfully above and you are usually paying for a brand name rather than better metal. The useful way to think about it is cost per wear: a ₹1,500 piece worn twice a week for two years costs about ₹7 each time, while a ₹300 piece that fails after five outings costs ₹60.
Caring for bangles
The routine is genuinely simple and it is the difference between two years and ten. Put jewellery on last — after moisturiser, perfume and hairspray — and take it off first, before showering, swimming, sleeping or exercising. Wipe each piece with a soft dry cloth before storing, keep it in a pouch rather than an open dish, and add a silica gel sachet to your jewellery box during monsoon. Never use toothpaste, baking soda, vinegar, lemon, silver dip or an ultrasonic cleaner; all of them strip gold plating permanently. Our anti-tarnish care guide goes further.

Frequently asked questions
Is gold-plated bangles good for daily wear?
Yes, provided the plating is thick — 2.5 microns or more — over nickel-free brass. Daily wear is exactly where plating thickness matters most, because thin flash plating wears through at friction points within weeks.
How much do bangles cost at Seraphaé?
Our bangles range from ₹699 to ₹1,699. Every piece is 18k gold-plated with an anti-tarnish finish over hypoallergenic, nickel-free brass.
Will these bangles irritate sensitive skin?
They are built on nickel-free brass, which is the metal responsible for the large majority of jewellery allergies. Keeping jewellery dry and removing it before sleeping or exercising further reduces any irritation.
Do you ship bangles across India?
